It is with great pleasure that we announce that the IEEE Computer Society Student Chapter of the University of Patras was awarded with the "Outstanding Chapter Award" of the IEEE Computer Society, for the excellent, high-quality work of the chapter during 2012 in providing the best overall set of programs and activities for local members and prospective computing/IT student members.
With nearly 85,000 members, the IEEE Computer Society is the largest organization of professionals in the world of computing. Founded in 1946, is the largest of the 38 IEEE Societies, concerning information technology and to promote the theory and application of computer technology and information.
The IEEE Computer Society Student Chapters offer the opportunity for members of the Computer Society, at the local level to network with colleagues, business development, professional development, and to share experiences through exchange of knowledge. The IEEE Computer Society has over 375 chapters, both teachers and students.
For the first time in Greece, the IEEE Hellenic Student Branch Congress (HSBC 2012) was successfully organized and hosted by the IEEE Student Branch of the University of Patras.
The 3-day conference/meeting was held in Patras on 14-16 December 2012 and was supported by IEEE R8SAC and the IEEE Greece Section, as well as Corallia Clusters Initiative and the Hellenic Telecommunications Organization.
In this National Meeting of IEEE Student Branches, participants were students of higher technical institutions from Greece, Cyprus and Europe, prominent scientists and members of the IEEE Greece Section.
